B.F.A. Drawing

There are two things that I believe about this vast and unknown world that we live in.  One: that we are not alone, that life exists elsewhere on other planets, and two: that there is not one universe but multiple universes, where everything can and will occur. These two ideas are what inspire and drive me to create my work, which depicts the many possibilities that exist beyond what our eyes and our telescopes can see. A lot of my influences come from science fiction and sometimes from various cultures and how they all have their own unique views of the world and the universe.

I prefer to draw and paint alien landscapes and vistas, showing the viewer a colorful and exotic world that might be seen somewhere in the very far future. I use water color in most of my drawing illustrations because I feel that their application helps to make the landscape appear more alien and exotic while keeping a naturalistic style. I also like to use bright colors in my work as I feel that they help to add specific moods and feelings to the subjects of the art. One piece of work can give a sense of awe and foreboding while another can give a mood of calm and peaceful isolation, all of that done through careful color choice and composition.

By creating these unknown worlds and the wide variety of things that inhabit them, I wish to show everyone that there are many things out in the universe that have yet to be discovered. I also want o open their minds to new ideas and concepts about the way of the universe as well as to inspire them to learn more about the current world they live in. Because if amazing and beautiful places, people, and animals can be found here on our planet Earth, imagine just what kind of things might lie out there amongst the vast and endless cosmos.
